Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed

Thank you for your bug. Could you get a new log with gstreamer0.10
-plugins-base-dbg gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-dbg libgstreamer0.10-0-dbg
installed?

[Bug 108283] Re: Rhythmbox leaks memory (possible caused by daap)

2007-04-24 Thread Indridi
I filed a bug on rhythmbox on bugzilla as well
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432886), and according to
James Doc Livingston, this is a bug in gst-plugins-good (see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407057) which has already been
solved in cvs.

Now, if you want me to post the new log anyway, please say so, otherwise
I assume the bug report on bugzilla solves this (I'm sorry, but I'm no
programmer so I can't do anything to fix this, all I can do is complain,
and try to complain properly so that someone else can fix it...)

best regards
Indriði

when you open a bug upstream could you comment on the distribution bug
so we don't duplicate work next time?

and yes, here's a log from valgrind, as described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind

a result from running

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly  valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log rhythmbox

[Bug 108283] Re: Rhythmbox leaks memory (possible caused by daap)

2007-04-20 Thread Indridi
sorry, should have put this all in one post, but anyway...

the valgrind log I posted logs around 5 minutes, during which I start
rhythmbox, connect to a mt-daapd share, an play one song through and
half of another, then I quit the program. During this time, the memory
ps -AF claims rhythmbox uses rose continuously the whole time, a few Mb
a minute.

This process, if left alone, ends up eating all the memory on my system,
the 1GB physical memory, and enaugh of the swap for the system to become
totally unresponsive

Regards
Indriði
