[Bug 1093338] Re: Mouse click stops responding

2013-01-29 Thread Tomdkat
I'm actually encountering this problem even though I'm not using a
laptop. I'm using an eMachines T614 desktop system with a PS/2 connected
Logitech trackball. After a fresh boot, everything works fine. Then,
at some point applications, like Firefox or Thunderbird or Empathy stop
responding to mouse clicks. I can navigate these applications with the
keyboard ok.

What's odd is, the Unity launcher DOES respond to mouse clicks and I can
click the power button to logout or reboot the system. I just can't
click in an application. I also can't minimize or maximize the
application window and I must use Alt-Tab to switch between
applications. If I reboot the system, everything goes back to normal.

I've booted my system 4 times so far today because of this.

What information should I gather to help troubleshoot this?

Thanks!

[Bug 1093338] Re: Mouse click stops responding

2012-12-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
ludo33200, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-
one-2310-intel an update is available for your BIOS (A04). If you update
to this, does this change anything?

While using normally certain apps, mouse click stops responding while moving
mouse still works and keaboard works too.
I've seen many similar bugs but with bo fix and not with the same
applications (and sometimes with keaboard not responding -not my case-)

  Some times with firefox 17.0.1
  __ Found workaround __
As found in one of the similar bugs but does not allways work
  - Alt+Tab select a window
  - Select Move option (with keaboard ..)
  - Move Windows, validate with Enter
  Other workaround that allways works
  - Close my session
