I've forgotten to post that I've already solve the problem. It wasn't a kernel issue because this problem also occurs in Ms Windows too (less frequently in WinXP, but in others versions more often) I've solved the problem changing the hard disks. But eventually HITACHI released a hard disk firmware update that solves the problem. This bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and is being marked as Won't Fix for this particular version of the kernel. However, the issue that you reported is one that should be possible to test with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. I have a Dell Precision 690, and I have the same problem. The computer freeze very frequently, so it's impossible to work with linux. I'd really appreciate if you increase the importance of this bug.
