Same here, just upgraded to raring, now after a few minutes Synaptic freezes. Hello, yesterday I upgraded to raring from quantal and I have a problem that seems to be this one. Basically, every time I start synaptic it freezes after a while, usually leaving me just enough time to check a few packages. Sometimes it froze before letting me select everything I wanted, sometimes after selecting and clicking "apply" (while the confirmation window was open), and sometimes after I successfully installed/removed a very small number of packages. The strangest thing is that I used synaptic immediately after upgrading, and it did NOT freeze. I don't know if the current problem is caused by some update, or if I've been lucky the first time. Any suggestions? Everything was going great after a reboot today, until I tried to resize the window. I just restarted synaptic to try and crash it by resizing the window, but that didn't work. So I'm trying combinations of packages and window resizing. I know it's not choosing specific packages, because it has crashed no matter which packages are selected. @Carl - Dave is right - and I ran dist-upgrade just to check and I'm good. Thanks though! @Dave - it seems as though it isn't necessarily related to crashes, and it isn't outputting anything to the terminal. I was able to successfully install a few packages (plus dependencies), then I went to the games section and tried to install some random games and it crashed there, too. I did gksu synaptic -d and gathered the output from there. If there's any other way to capture information, I can do that. Alternatively, I can try to duplicate this on a fresh install.
