You might be able to use the SAK keys to sync the hard disk, then reboot and see if anything was logged. e.g. when the system freezes, press: Alt + SysRq + S U S B (hold down Alt+SysRq and press S U S B in order) That should reboot the system. If not, use the reset button or power-cycle it. Then: $ cd /var/log $ ls -ltr And see if anything useful was logged. Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180728 Title: kernel crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1180728/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1180728] Re: kernel crash
Daniel, Is your system unusable? Has this happened again? You have provided no info about your computer, what version of Ubuntu you're running, etc. Nothing can be done with this bug report as it stands. Try running "apport-collect 1180728". But unless this bug happens again, it should probably be considered a fluke.
