Do you still have this problem with openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.04? ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: openoffice.org2 = openoffice.org Status: New = Incomplete -- Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/128278 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
RE: [Bug 128278] Re: Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart
I stopped having the problem in 7.10 way back when I uninstalled and reinstalled open office from scratch. It seemed to be a issue with some hidden setting. I have not upgraded to 8.04 because of an ongoing driver issue with my wireless which that I am aware of hasn't been solved, although I haven't looked recently. [Bug 128278] Re: Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart
Hi, I can confirm this on an Acer laptop with nvidia graphics, Feisty, no desktop effects. Thanks Rafaelgarcia for your comment... you help me realise the problem too :) Removing the openoffice.org-gtk package is all you need to do. It will no longer look as nice, but presentations work. Perhaps this problem is down to a mixture of bugs in the GTK theme and openoffice.org-gtk support? Blubuntu was in use here. [Bug 128278] Re: Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart
BUG resolved! I don't know why but via synaptic I completely removed all OpenOffice software and configuration files and then reinstalled everything. Now when I open ooimpress it opens faster and looks a little different. Most importantly X-windows doesn't freeze anymore and everything works fine. -- Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/128278 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 128278] Re: Pressing slideshow or F5 in Openoffice Impress causes Xwindows to hang requiring restart
Could not reproduce this on Feisty / ATI binary drivers / No desktop effects. Please specify what version of OO (Impress) you are currently using and whether or not you have desktop effects / Beryl / Compiz activated. Also try to run Impress from a console (maybe it throws some errors) - although, due to the fact that X freezes, it might not help you.
OpenOffice.org 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 Mon Jul 2 13:17:52 UTC 2007 The freeze happens with or without the Desktop effects and/or GL Desktop activated. I don't have Beryl installed. I tried running ooimpress from console but yes I don't get any information that way because of X freezing.
