[Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
The pulseaudio output plugin was disabled with upload of xine-lib 1.1.11.1-1ubuntu1 I hope the recent official rework from Lennart (pulseaudio's author) will be integrated into - upstream, - debian - or ubuntu's package For further information see http://hg.debian.org/hg/xine-lib/xine-lib/?cmd=changeset;node=9a8184be9728;style=gitweb and http://xine-lib.alioth.debian.org/patches-1.1/ -- Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131914 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
the new plugin has been committed upstream earlier today, so that it is going to end up in the next upstream release 1.1.12. This will definitly end up in debian and then in ubuntu. Unless serious reason arise to include a new upstream version in hardy (which I cannot think of), it is very unlikely that this version is going to end up there. If you are still interested in having the new pulse audio driver in hardy, I'd suggest that you apply the referenced patch from hg.debian.org, test it and attach a debdiff to this bug. In that case I see no problems in adding it to hardy, most preferably before release. -- Gruesse/greetings, Reinhard Tartler, KeyID 945348A4 -- Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131914 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
Your patch doesn't apply anymore to current xine 1.1.11. I tried to apply it, but it seems the problem got fixed in a different way. Could you please try the current hardy package? if that doesn't work as well, could you please try compiling 1.1.11 yourself? I can see if I can provide updated xine package in the motumedia PPA, if this would help you. [Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
Do you mean 1.1.10.1? That is what is currently in hardy. The problem looks to still be there, in a slightly more refined form. It still comes down to the open function not doing locking properly in the error path. New patch attached. and @Dima Ryazanov Yes, you unplug any sound cards, any USB head sets, disable on board audio, everything goes. ** Attachment added: fix for hardy (xine-1.10.1) http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12678271/xine-pulse-audio-fix.patch -- Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131914 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm getting this crash... Could you tell me how to add the sound devices? [Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
In my case I had unplugged everything, so adding them back as a matter of plugging everything back in. [Bug 131914] Re: Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes.
Oh, found the problem. No, I didn't unplug anything (unplug what? soundcard?) There was an instance of java running that had /dev/dsp open. Silly me - I thought /dev/dsp was obsolete. -- Xine does not like it so much when you have no audio devices, crashes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131914 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
