I don't think it's soundkonverter's fault and I can't reproduce it with 
kdebase4-workspace 4.11.17.
I can't come up with any idea why soundkonverter could be causing this.
My absolutely wild guess would be that you added soundkonverter to list of 
applications that can open folders (inode/directory mime type) and the trash 
applet chooses it to open the trash folder.

I just got finished going through my file associations via system
settings and found exactly where it was causing issues.  Your wild guess
was spot on correct.  I found multiple places where soundkonverter was
listed in the inode section and it wasn't just directory for mime
type.  I've cleared all references to soundkonverter in the inode
section of file association and this bug/issue can now be labeled as
fixed.  Though I still don't understand how soundkonverter when
installed placed all the file associations under inode branch of the
file associations, this bug is fixed otherwise.
