[Bug 151975] Re: live system freeze with network manager & 8180 driver

2008-03-05 Thread SqUe
I can confirm exactly the same behaviour with ubuntu gutsy 7.10 on a
Fujitsu-siemens 1840w. I am attaching my syslog.txt grabbed with yareg
from windows installation after the crash. The crash comes after
connecting to a wireless network with wep encrpyition. It crashes the
first 5 secs as the icon still animates trying to connect. Computer
becomes total unresponsible and only hard shutdown is possible. Tried
ALT+CRTL+F1 and ALT+CTRL+BACKSPACE and no luck

it happens all the time with live cd and with the complete installation.
I Have to use ndiswrapper and the windows .inf to get it work.

[Bug 151975] Re: live system freeze with network manager & 8180 driver

2007-10-20 Thread markus
Hey!

I got the same problem, but can only confirm it with the live cd. (it is
my "productive" System)

My system is an ACER Aspire 1355 LMI with a built-in Realtek 8180 wireless
card. The card works fine without encryption.
With encryption the system freezes (even no keyboard shortcuts to kill the X
server is wotrking) after entering the key for the 128bit WEP encrypted
network. The Caps-Lock diode is flashing! (but not on my external keyboard)

on edgy without problems, feisty no chance (the module r8180x is not
included- never tried ndiswrapper)

Thanks for your effort!! Greetings from Germany - Markus

[Bug 151975] Re: live system freeze with network manager & 8180 driver

2007-10-17 Thread markshan
IBM T23. Realtek 8180 wireless card.
Full clean installation of Ubuntu 7.10 rc alternate CD downloaded 15/10/2007.
I can reproduce at will. If my wireless network is open I can connect no
problem.
When I add any security; WEP or WPA, the system freezes and I need to hard
reboot.
This occurs when I attempt to make a connection through the Network Manager. I
enter my security credentials, hit the connect button and after a few seconds
the system becomes totally unresponsive.
Can I provide you with any diagnostic information? If so, what?

is this reproducible or did this just happen one time?

Do you see the same after installing for real?
