[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration
Thanks for testing. Should be upstreamed, but setting to Triaged for now. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Triaged -- [i945] [Compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration
Tested on Jaunty Alpha-2 with latest updates. Same issues as before. 2008/12/20 Bryce Harrington br...@bryceharrington.org: [This is an automatic notice.] We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires that you first test it against their newer driver code. To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built packages for the driver and its new dependencies. So you have a couple options: 1. Download and test .debs for intrepid, from: https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive -or- 2. Download and test the Jaunty alpha-2 (or newer) Live CD, (which includes a beta of the new xserver 1.6 as well). See http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ for ISOs Thanks ahead of time! You can simply reply to this email to report your findings. P.S., if you wish to forward your bug upstream yourself, please follow these directions to do so: http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration
I've tested it on Intrepid, using the live CD and upgrading the system with the latest updates. I couldn't find the system-bell-blur config this time so I tried reproducing it using blur window and motion blur instead. I tried reproducing twice. First it bugged out right away, second time I had too fiddle a while for it to happen. Motion blur does not pose too much problem, but window blur, when it kicks in, is much worse than before. All changes in graphics lead to black areas with a few bright pixels in them. Restarting X (the hard way) does not disable the configuration and I can't figure out how to disable it afterwards since the graphical interface is rendered unusable. Beware of wrecked systems here!!! ** Attachment added: lspci-vvnn http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18701470/lspci-vvnn -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Please test with Intrepid, and if the issue still exists, please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and a copy of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log from after reproducing the problem. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration
The configuration utility to enable blur does not seem to be available on the live cd I'am afraid. -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration
Sorry for my hasty response. I found how to install it... This is now for alpha6, the problem persists. I also discovered the following: If enabling motion blur, the starting it (default ctrl+F12) it has the same symptom. However, disabling the plugin will cause the system to regain speed and it might therefore seem like my graphics card is lacking acceleration for whatever blur uses. This is however not the case with the system bell, it needs an X restart. -- [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
