[Bug 162481] Re: On the wallpaper settings, the remove button should really remove the pictures from the computtr

2008-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The bug is NOT labeled delete but remove, which implies removing
from the list and not deleting from the disk as you suggest. The empty
trash action is clear, in the current situation it could be confusing
for users, if they added some photos to the backgrounds choices and want
to remove those from the list they should not have to worry about
whether they will be deleted or just not listed in the capplet

Hummm, ok. For some reason I had in my memory it said Delete, not
remove, sorry Thanks for all the attention and patience, let hope I
have some better ideas at the future ;)

[Bug 162481] Re: On the wallpaper settings, the remove button should really remove the pictures from the computtr

2008-02-12 Thread Wladston Viana
I don't agree with Sebastien's position.

If it were like that, the Empty trash button would not work, because it could
also lead user do delete datas.

The thing is - if the button is labeled DELETE - it should do what it
says. At least, the text of the button could bt changed to Remove from
the list, if you guys decide you won't let the user delete the images
from the walpaper panel.

Please, take a look at my ideas, and give me a reply.

Thanks,

Thank you for your bug. That doesn't seem to be a good idea because it
could lead users to delete datas

2007-11-13 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 162481] Re: On the wallpaper settings, the remove button should really remove the pictures from the computtr

2007-11-13 Thread Wladston Viana
Pedro,

Sorry for the poor report. (btw, that page you sent me is good!)

here is a new one :

My enviroment : Ubuntu 7.10 - desktop

Steps to get to the problem :

1. Right click on desktop, select change desktop background
2. Click on add..., then select the images on the wallpaper folder, and hit
open
3. the images are added to the list.
4. some time later, the user decides he no longer wants one or more wallpapers.
So he selects the wallpaper and hits the remove button on the change
desktop background dialog.
5. the removed wallpapers are no longer shown on the list

6. the user makes a fresh install of ubuntu, and wants to add his
wallpapers back to the list - he makes the same procedure on steps 1 and
2.

7. this is the problem - the wallpapers the user had removed
previously are again added to the list. The expected was to never more
see the wallpapers that were rejected (expect on the trash).

This problem happens because the remove button doesn't remove the
wallpapers from the computer - it just removes the wallpaper from the
list of wallpapers.

My suggestion to solve the problem :

1. Change the text of the remove button to Remove from the list
2. Create a new button that says delete or move to trash , and that
actually moves the selected wallpaper to the trash.
