There were errors in filesystem.squashfs indeed. Sadly, skipping these 3 files without restarting live session was not possible (so I downloaded a new image over night using bitTorrent to prevent from undiscovered download errors and to not have to download over and over again - connection slower than 2176 kbps / many DSL low-level errors and no clue about rsync). This bug may be closed. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD). You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM.
