[Bug 1723288] Re: Re: My first Personal Bug

2017-10-13 Thread markackerm...@gmail.com
w.r.t. "wayland and nvidia" - ya I should not have diffused this with that
misleading update info - My Bad.
I am sadly aware that Wayland is not supported in Optimus Laptop YET, but I
never knew it does not work with Nvidia either, H. Interesting.

w.r.t. 'ubuntu-bug' script
other than submitting bugs that popup on my screen, and adding "Developer
Option", I don't know how to make one. Perhaps you can enlighten me.

Even if it is moot because the problem is at boot up (before grub) where
I don't think I can copy/paste anything.

If there is anyway to add more info please tell me, and I will be glad
to add it and/or recreate it the problem and add it.

Cheers, Mark

Sadly your report is useless without hadware/software/error details.

Note that wayland and nvidia (in case you of use) does not work (nvidia
problem); so choose a X session at login time.

For real report, use 'ubuntu-bug' script.

[Bug 1723288] Re: Re: My first Personal Bug

2017-10-13 Thread markackerm...@gmail.com
For troubleshooting, I went back into the BIOS, and put "USB HDD" as top
priority as I have always had it on EVERY computer I have EVER booted from a
USB device (only a few hundred),
and the problem
"boot error>"
AGAIN

It is almost (and I am just guessing here) as if grub is looking on the
wrong device and/or getting stuck on the "USB HDD" and NOT going to the
next priority "notebook HDD".

SO NOT FIXED! Thanks for saying thanks - a new way to help others - AWESOME
p.s. I have been using Ubuntu Forums, and Steam Forums for years trying to
help so many, and fell I am falling on deaf ears.

It is nice to see this is actively looked at.
p.s.s. I will always try to help as much as possible!!

2017-10-13 Thread markackerm...@gmail.com
It Appears to be fixed - though too soon to be sure. A new update to
xwayland and xorg and similar things may have fixed it. It was somewhat
inconsistent.

It may be that I changed my boot order in boot devices so the "notebook
Hdd" is at the top. (Not the USB Hdd). I will restart again with the
BIOS changed back to the way I have ALWAYS had it with "USB Hdd" as
first priority.

Another likely related problem is hanging reboot (not shutting down
without playing around with C+A+F1-F3)

Thanks for the bug report.

Is the error in bug 1706939 what you are seeing?
