[Bug 1735700] Re: Suggestion to suspend on lid close by default

2018-09-18 Thread Sean Davis
@lastonestanding, your assumption is correct. Because some systems have
issues with lid close, suspension, and wake events, we have defaulted to
not suspending the system and instead allowing the users to set the
option themselves.

2018-08-18 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
I assume that 'suspend' is not the default setting because it may not be
supported properly by the system, and therefore cause a system crash.

[Bug 1735700] Re: Suggestion to suspend on lid close by default

2018-02-09 Thread John C Fowler
Personally... There should be an option for the laptop lid to be closed
when docked. I have Dell with two HDMI monitors attached to my docking
station. Since 17.10 upgrade, I have to run with the laptop lid open.
Should I power up with the lid closed, I see the boot sequence on
Monitor one until LXE Window Mgr starts, then the screen blanks. Xfce-
power-manager options for "Plugged in" should be "Switch off (Laptop
Screen Only)", "Suspend", "Lock Screen". It appears that "Switch off
Display" shuts down the Docking Station Video Ports as well.
