Personally... There should be an option for the laptop lid to be closed when docked. I have Dell with two HDMI monitors attached to my docking station. Since 17.10 upgrade, I have to run with the laptop lid open. Should I power up with the lid closed, I see the boot sequence on Monitor one until LXE Window Mgr starts, then the screen blanks. Xfce- power-manager options for "Plugged in" should be "Switch off (Laptop Screen Only)", "Suspend", "Lock Screen". It appears that "Switch off Display" shuts down the Docking Station Video Ports as well.
