You compiled PHP or libXML on your own? Dapper's libxml2 is 2.6.24. Gutsy's libxml2 is 2.6.31. It's a big mistake to server one version of library to programs which are compiled against some other version of library. Make that 'Hardy's libxml2 is 2.6.31'. I had libxml2 version 2.6.0 and 2.6.30 installed. The symlink /usr/local/lib/libxml2.so pointed to the 2.6.0 version of libxml2. Making the symlink point to the 2.6.30 solved the problem. Since I upgraded my machine from Dapper to Edgy to Feisty to Gutsy, shouldn't the upgrade process take of the libxml2 version as well?
