[Bug 182270] Re: Monitor reports: screen resolution "out of range"
Viewsonic VA2216w monitor reports OUT OF RANGE when X starts during Live CD boot procedure or full install. This is a 22inch 1680*1...@60hz monitor common in retail outlets. Same bug was in 9.04 as well. The X display works with the Nvidia restricted drivers (GeForce 7050 PV / NVIDIA nForce 630a graphics chipset on motherboard) but it is far from easy for new users. I know the monitor is reporting the error and not Ubuntu but the fact remains Ubuntu has a major show stopping bug for new users with commonly available kit. -- Monitor reports: screen resolution "out of range" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 182270] Re: Monitor reports: screen resolution "out of range"
Dear mister Clemens, I know it's my monitor, bud i come from windows, so working with a text based cd is not an option, not for now bud mayby in the future. I had it configured now by a linux specialist, i've seen what he did, so that really is impossible for a newbie. It sould be so that when you install Ubuntu, that by the install, it sould be possible to test the proposed configuring of the monitor. For now it works very good, bud it's really an unovercoming problem for people coming from windows, i know that for example Mandriva doos that. I hope it will be an option in the future. Do you think it is possible that it will be implemented? Sorry for the bad English and thanks for your answer. Willy. [Bug 182270] Re: Monitor reports: screen resolution "out of range"
Hello fokker, the issue you have is more of an issue with your monitor. The "out of range" is displayed directly by you monitor, not by ubuntu. If you have problems installing Ubuntu with the Desktop cd, please use the Alternatte cd providing you with a text based installer which is the official fall back for issues like this. You will find support for this in a forum of your language. You can find the alternate cd on the place where you downloaded the Desktop cd. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid -- Monitor reports: screen resolution "out of range" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
