2024-04-06 Thread ԜаӀtеr Ⅼарсһуnѕkі
Following up on my last comment, this isn't a bug in the sense that we
didn't intend to include OpenVPN support by default. It's also not a bug
that to get support you have to install the network-manager-openvpn
package.

However, I do think it would be a good idea to include it by default.

[Bug 1865855] Re: Network configuration does not allow importion of vpn configuration

2020-03-09 Thread bzb001
I added the package network-manager-openvpn and now using the ConnectionManager
I can find the option to load a configuration from file. The issue now is that
it does not allow me to save the entry. Could you tell me where I should report
this bug?
Thanks

[Bug 1865855] Re: Network configuration does not allow importion of vpn configuration

2020-03-03 Thread Walter Lapchynski
I'm sorry for the confusion. This is not an LXQt issue. They technically
don't have a particular network manager to recommend. They do have an
applet for conman which is the default recommendation in Debian. We have
a platform expectation in Ubuntu to use NetworkManager, so we use nm-
tray. Unfortunately, it's a little bit bare bones, so we supplement it
with nm-connection-editor, which by default has no VPN capability.
However, you can easily add it by installing the network-manager-pptp-
gnome package. As it turns out, this one's not a bug, either, unless
Lubuntu wants to consider adding in that capability by default (maybe).

I'm getting confused. Is this a lubuntu issue or a lxqt issue? All I
know is that in lubuntu 18.xx using lxde, Network Configurator provides
an option to import a configuration from file.

2020-03-03 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Yes, Alf, it can be hard. In this case, the cold, hard truth is that
"we" in this case is Lubuntu and not LXQt (that's why the package is
called *lubuntu*-meta) so "we" *do* like our current solutions. Unless
you have a comment based on acceptance of that fact, please just move
on.
