[Bug 189620] Re: policykit integration missing
We will turn this on again in lucid+1. Then u-m will use aptdaemon exclusively. ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = later -- policykit integration missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 189620] Re: policykit integration missing
It was temporarily fixed in Karmic (with update-manager using aptdaemon instead of synaptic), but it was reverted for 9.10 for reliability reasons. Perhaps we'll have another go in Lucid+1. -- policykit integration missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 189620] Re: policykit integration missing
really? I've yet to see a policykit authentication window when I'm using update-manager in fact, running software-properties-gtk from the terminal exits with a warning that I'm not root. C'mon it's 2009, and we have a beautiful authentication method, why root? -- policykit integration missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 189620] Re: policykit integration missing
Moreover, 'cause PolicyKit allow you to provide task based policies, IMHO could be a good idea define: * one policy allowing to install updates; * one policy allowing to install security updates; * one policy allowing to upgrade distro. I know, we have automatically install security updates option, but PolicyKit scope is allowing some users to do some tasks under certain conditions (or not) and I can't see any reason to limit this framework to a simple Unlock button :-) -- policykit integration missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
