[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-05-06 Thread Christophe Olinger
Since today, everything works as it should. I did not change anything so
it must have been one of the updates. I started my computer and after
login the screen resolution was correct.

For me, the bug can be closed.

[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-04-26 Thread Dado Sutter
I would like to confirm that I have the same problem, using a nVidia FX5900 on
a Sony Multiscan 300sf CRT, trying to keep 1280x1024 on Ubuntu 8.04 now.
The problem appeared before, on 7.10 too.
Thanks !

[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-04-09 Thread Christophe Olinger
I can confrim this too.
Actually yesterday I realized, that in the new display configuration menu, at
login the resolution is correctly set to 1280x1024, but the desktop is too big,
as I have to move to the edges, and the desktop follows. When I change to
1024x768, the resolution changes and on switching back to 1280x1024, the scree
resolution is ok with the desktop correctly filling my screen. Unfortuantely on
restart, the setting is not stored although 1280x1024 is still selected in the
drop down list. So, I have to do the same switching as explained above at every
login.
I think this should be at least a high or even critical importance.

[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-02-29 Thread peterhorton
Same issue here, the resolution seems to follow the resolution of GDM,
which is the max. Changing it in the Screens control panel or via
editing xorg.conf by hand does NOT work.

[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-02-09 Thread Ari Torhamo
This just started to happen to me too with the updates of 8th or 9th of
february. The current wrong resolution after booting is 1900 x 1200 for
both the login screen and the desktop. My monitor is a 21 CRT, for
which 4:3 is the right aspect ratio. I normally use a resolution of 1400
x 1050 or 1600 x 1200, depending on what I do. The driver I use is NV.

BTW, the resolution of the login screen also used to be correct in my
system. At least when I used the Nvidia driver for a while ago, the
resolution was the same for the login screen and the desktop. This
doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the bug in question, but
thought to mention it to you Dzamir.

Using Configuration Editor and looking at desktop/gnome/screen/0/default
and selecting resolution or rate, there is a warning that reads This
key has no schema.

[Bug 190129] Re: screen resolution reset at maximum resolution at login

2008-02-09 Thread Don Rist
If any confirmation of this bug is needed, I'm having the same problem.
Resolution resets to maximum with each login. Selecting and saving a
lower resolution with the box checked to make it the default has no
effect. My maximum is 1280 X 1024. Selecting 1024 X 768 works for
the current session but is back to 1280 x 1024 next time I login.
