This is a human-icon-theme issue. Looks as it should with other icon sets, such as gnome-icon-theme, where the folders are designed for that size, not just resized in gimp. The 24x24 folders in human are 16 pixels tall, so redesigning the 16x16 folder to be that tall should take care of things. This is caused mostly by the white area toward the top, and the 1px white(ish) highlight that makes the border look "creased" due to the low resolution. Possible fixes I can think of now are: 1) Redo the 16x16 folder icon in human-icon theme. Doesn't look feasible for Hardy since there's little time left, all associated icons would need to be redone too, and a complete redesign is planned for the following release. 2) Make Firefox use the 24x24 folder icon, which has much better definition. This would not look bad with the default font size we use, and arguably accentuates the separation of the items better, but the - counter argument might be that it's too big.
