[Bug 214909] Re: radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness
For me on a ThindPad T60 (with the X1400 chip), suspend/resume doesn't work with the -ati driver, so I have to use the radeonhd driver to get widescreen resolutions. Switching to console using radeonhd doesn't work for me, just displays a screen with what seems to be vertical and horizontal lines being added at a very fast pace at random locations. Switching back to X worked fine. So basically I don't get any brightness control at all. -- radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214909] Re: radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness
Thanks for the update. Yes, that sounds mostly correct. radeonhd is actively being developed, see http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11244 and we'll also keep tracking radeonhd bugs like this one here.
I should note that this works with the Xorg Edgers drivers (See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XorgOnTheEdge and http://mattcaron.livejournal.com/170901.html -- radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214909] Re: radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness
Well, from your blog I understand you're using the -ati driver and not the -radeonhd driver, right? -- radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214909] Re: radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness
Does it work if you just install the updated radeonhd driver from my PPA, without installing the xorg-edgers stack? -- radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214909] Re: radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness
I am using -ati (aka just plain radeon), which appears to have had some of the cards previously only supported via radeonhd added to it, correct? Thus, I presume that radeonhd is experimental and will eventually go away as all the cards it supports are added to mainline radeon. Is this correct? If it is not correct and/or you want me to force it to use some version of radeonhd to test this, I am willing to do so. Also, to answer your previous question, I did try just using the radeonhd driver from your ppa back about mid-June, and the panel brightness did not work. I did not try it more recently, since I was mainly looking for 3D support, and that requires a boatload of other dependencies.
That workaround does not work for me (but that is okay, as the radeon driver workaround does). -- radeonhd driver does not support changing panel brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
