I have also run into this problem in Hardy with proprietary Nvidia drivers (Quadro 570 in my case). I have noticed that this Problem does not occur from start but happens after some time. I was not able to reproduce it at any given time. I run totem-xine, but it also appears with mplayer. No difference here. Works on my Laptop tho, has hardy too and geforce driver. Dan (and anyone else who might encounter this bug), This issue is caused by Nvidia's proprietary driver, if you switch the hue settings in Totem (or gstreamer) from minimum to maximum you'll get normal playback again. I have the same problem. Some more details: It occurs not only in totem, but also in vlc and probably other players as well. When I tell vlc to use X11 video output instead of Default or XVideo, the colors are fine (but I don't think I'm getting accelerated video rendering.) If I click Reset Hardware Defaults in the nVidia settings tool, it seems to fix the problem temporarily (but only until I reboot).
