Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance. -- package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 230036] Re: package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade:
I probably had the same problem. Todays upgrades for 8.10 included console-setup1.25ubuntu4 During the upgrade process by update manager, I got a message something like this: "There are keyboard options in /etc/default/console-setup that are no longer supported. The configuration file is not updated" with a "cancel", "back" and "next" button. I pressed the Next button. A little while I got exactly the same message. This time I pressed "Back" (just to see it would do) That's when I got the error message: "E: console-setup: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 10" I will attach the console-setup file. The system is fairly fresh. It's a clean install of 8.10 in use for about a month. The console output in case it's needed: Setting up console-setup (1.25ubuntu4) ... dpkg: error processing console-setup (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 10 ** Attachment added: "console-setup" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20462831/console-setup -- package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug. -- package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 230036] Re: package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade:
NOTE: after the initial 'upgrade' bang settled to a low hum, and finally dimished into ... silence, i decided it might be worth checking update- manager [gui]. indeed, a few updates were available (see attached). I proceeded with 'Install'. again, i am prompted for keyboard layout, via the 'dumb terminal' (?) part of the Update Mgr gui. Again, i have (est.) 6 options, all Afghani. This time, i chose #6 -- though incorrect (should be US standard), i selected just to allow procedure to advance. Process completes w/out error, prompting that, upon restart, new settings shall be applied. I have NOT yet restarted, for fear of losing my input device calibration for US (anxious that an Afghanistan KB layout will be absolutely foreign to me). Observation: Afghanistan is the very first available option in the GUI > Settings Mgr > Keyboard . config options. hmph! Okay, so i ensure that this is set to US. TRUE. (he wonders, where then has this 'new', incorrect config been logged / set to be applied / whatever. he decides to uncheck 'let x control keyboard', which allowed the modding this config. shooting in the dark, he adds another layout-- dupe of default, to be also US. (hoping perhaps this might override that config of Update-Manager-- though he suspects this is not going to affect that Update Mgr change) DOH! (he thinks to himself: this is the Xubuntu x64 distribution!!! for the AMD 64-bit processor. the processor here, since sys mainboard, etc. upgrade is now Pentium 4D 3Ghz!! what a dope! but, what's this? it's working? hmmm scratching much head here. is this Hardy, or somewhere in between? what to do?) realizing this is bug report commentary, he does not expect the commentary to be directly addressed-- but wished to report the significat facts, previously simply forgotten as hardware upgrade took place during an XP usage period. thank you for your hard work on this issue, and good luck. ** Attachment added: "Update Manager, post-upgrade fin" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14501610/Screenshot-1.png -- package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 230036] Re: package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade:
NOTE: ARCHITECTURE CHANGED - now 'genuine' Intel Pentium 4D, new mainboard, etc., HOWEVER-- at time of Hardy BETA release (circa mid- march), i tried an upgrade to that beta-- though the upgrade did not process more than... i dunno... 30 seconds-ish... i recall that error (as listed above) 'Dependency Problems : "ubuntu-minimal" ', so the Upgrade from Gutsy did NOT proceed to Hardy BETA at that time-- but NOTE-- the Architechture was identical to that data onfile here at Launchpad. (i.e. this system upgrade occurred at a time when Xubuntu O/S HDD was not in use, circa: early April, hence this inconsistency. consequence: unknown, but this user believes, inconsequential to this 'bug', due to recognized similarity when attempting BETA upgrade [i.e. seems the same issue. hmm... something wrong w/ my Xubuntu config, globally? i do not doubt it possible, perhaps probable, considering this user's experimentation, somewhat lacking in GNU/Linux, Debian experience [former FC5], etc. ::just guessing! i want to love this O/S, while one does experiment, countless permutations occur-- unrecorded and forgotten-- one wishes this upgrade 'failure' could be supported with his own, several app crash logs on-file, never submitted due to gradual config of launchpad account, etc., but this user is much obliged to send, upon request / instruction. this user wishes to help in whatever capacity he is able! :: -- package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
