I think it may have something to do with using more than one keyboard (laptops always have one integrated), as it usually happened when I disconnected my usb keyboard, used the machine without it, and after a boot, used the usb keyboard again. Yes, I'm still having it. To be honest, I've just had it 30 seconds ago. Same problem here: I have a dell Latitude D630, on which I upgraded from gutsy to hardy. The keyboard mapping is the french variant of the latitude keyboard (this is set via system/preferences/keyboard).
