[Bug 259414] Re: [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly
The reporter of bug#295709 are having issues similar to this bug. The main differences is that the reporter of that bug is using 2.6.27-7-generic and the 945GM graphic card. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me could take a look at it and decide what to do? //magnus -- [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 259414] Re: [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly
I can confirm this; on my eeePC, the VGA (VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 04)) port is not hot plugable. It must be present when X is starting (after usplash) otherwise it is not seen as a valid method for output (even by xrandr). another workarround is to restart X (ctrd-alt backspace). -- [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 259414] Re: [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly
I've done what you said and if I start my computer without external monitor I get a blank screen blinking. If I plug-in the external monitor and restart X then the eee screen is still black and blinking sometimes but it works the external monitor. I don't have that problem anymore but it's not ease to unplug the external monitor and go out with the eeepc if you unnderstand. In 8.04 I was turning of the eeepc monitor from System-Preferences- Screen Resolution. This bug is especially manifesting when both eeepc screen and external monitor are plugged in. [Bug 259414] Re: [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly
Also see bug #233787 as another Eee PC. I'm not sure quirking off the LVDS would solve this particular issue though. Does it work better if you put this in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf? n section Section Device add the line: Option monitor-LVDS LVDS Then the following new section: Section Monitor Identifier LVDS Option Ignore True EndSection If so, we can quirk it. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Status: Confirmed = Triaged -- [eeepc, gm915gm] When I plug in external monitor to VGA the X desktop fails do display correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation.
