Thanks - that is odd, as you're running the resize plugin ok. Could you also please provide the following: 1. Please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file to this bug report. 2. Please run lspci -vvnn lspci.log and attach the resulting file lspci.log to this bug report. 3. Please run gconftool-2 -R /apps/compiz compiz.gconf and attach the resulting file compiz.gconf to this bug report. 4. Please try creating a fresh user account and state whether you see this problem with a new user (default profile - no changes). Who said I was using Xorg? Just kidding! There you go! I created the new user (with adduser) and the kde session didn't even bother to start... which by the way is what was happening with my KDE session (till I deleted the empty directory .kde/share/plasma following a tip provided on the #ubuntu+1 channel on IRC).
