[Bug 272470] Re: tv card does only run one time, after reboot it isn't detected as a TV-card any more

2009-11-09 Thread mogli
On 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10, the driver does sometimes load, sometimes not,
it's a problem with the hardware. I hope they send me a new version of
the card, however, no driver can solve this problem, so I want to
close this Report or do something else to it, because every discussion
of it can't solve the problem.

2008-09-25 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi mogli,

I'd encourage you to ask the developers who wrote the driver you're
attempting to use to get their driver upstream. It's a lot of extra
work for the Ubuntu kernel team to maintain out of tree drivers/patches
so as such they typically require evidence of upstream submission first.
It'll also benifit other Linux users who will want to use this card.
There is a linux driver project which can also help with trying to get
this upstream - http://www.linuxdriverproject.org/twiki/bin/view . Hope
that helps. Thanks.

[Bug 272470] Re: tv card does only run one time, after reboot it isn't detected as a TV-card any more

2008-09-21 Thread mogli
I used the driver from the disk which was shipped with the card, but now
I will try it with the driver from here:
http://tbsdtv.com/english/product/PCIDVBS2.html . There is a patch
included, but there is a problem with it. I think I'll fix that problem
by renaming or linking some folders, which are not found from the
script. But How do I install the driver in the right directory? Which
directory with which command? I don't know much about make and
compiling things :-(.

For more information about the card see:
http://tbsdtv.com/english/product/PCIDVBS2.html .

Thank you for helping me :-)

[Bug 272470] Re: tv card does only run one time, after reboot it isn't detected as a TV-card any more

2008-09-21 Thread Martin Nowack
Ok, I looked at the patch from their homepage and it seams the patch is
faulty too old for the provided sources.

And now the strange thing ;) your device ID is already added in the original.
So you should just unpack the tar.gz file in a new directory and build it their
without applying the patch.
Look at the README file in that directory for more informations.

Don't forget to copy the dvb-fe-cx24116.fw to the /lib/firmware
directory.

Hope that helps.

2008-09-20 Thread Martin Nowack
Star Wars II ;)

For 8.10 you should use the linux-headers-generic package, it always
install the headers appropriate to your running kernel.

The module installation may installed it in the wrong directory, which
gets cleaned up after each reboot.

You should tell more about your card and describe the drivers e.g. were
you downloaded them from.
