[Bug 291732] Re: mouse location wrong in vmplayer

2008-12-07 Thread Six
Kubuntu 8.10 (32-bit) doesn't appear to have the same problem. (But it
does still have the age-old SIGSEV and Language Pack errors that were
previously summarily dismissed...)

I started over with a fresh VMX, and booted the Ubuntu live CD. The
mouse still didn't work in the CD menu, but after booting into the
Ubuntu desktop it worked just fine. I chose to install Ubuntu from the
desktop icon, and this time the mouse functions worked properly during
the setup phase. After booting to the newly-installed CD, I found the
mouse functions to still be in full working order.

I'm not sure if this affected anything or not, but I changed the USB
Autoconnect setting from it's default of OFF (FALSE) to ON (TRUE), using
the easyvmx.com v2.0 generator.

[Bug 291732] Re: mouse location wrong in vmplayer

2008-12-06 Thread Six
I'm experiencing the same problem. I've just installed Ubuntu 8.10
(32-bit) into the latest VMware Player 2.51 (build 126130). My Microsoft
Laser Mouse 6000 USB mouse didn't work at all during the installation
phase, I had to use ALT-keys instead. After installing, pressing the
left mouse button only works correctly while hovering over the
Applications menu. I get only get the Places and System menu to appear
if I click on the menu bar to the right of the Firefox/Email and Help
icons.

For everywhere else, it's also out of synch with the mouse pointer's
actual location. The RMB context menu appears, but selecting an option
from it is impossible with the LMB. When group selecting items on the
desktop, the highlighted rectangle is out of position.

I can't click on the software-button update to see if that cures the
problem (as the out-of-synch position would be too far off-screen to the
right). I'll try Kubuntu 8.10 next to see if that suffers from the same
affliction.

I've also installed prior versions of Ubuntu (6 and 7) into VMware
player without any USB mouse problems such as this.
