[Bug 293933] Re: Need to be able to determine/slow down the CD burning speed. This is especially important for ISO files, which generally must be burned to CDs quite slowly.

2010-10-31 Thread Id2ndR
I have this trouble too. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 to burn a dvd+rw and brasero
burns it at 4.0x instead of the settings of 2.4x.
Notice that we shouldn't have this trouble have been solved in bug #177124 (but
apparently this is not really fixed).

[Bug 293933] Re: Need to be able to determine/slow down the CD burning speed. This is especially important for ISO files, which generally must be burned to CDs quite slowly.

2010-05-31 Thread Richard Driscoll
I have this problem with my CD burner on Ubuntu 10.4 and earlier versions.
Under "Burning Speed" only "Maximum Speed" and (for example) "51.9x (CD)" are
offered.

With a slow re-writable CD this is not a problem but with write-once CDs
it is since they can underrun and burnfree is not always effective with
audio CDs.

I am forced to use K3b which *does* offer a full range of speeds and
this tends to confirm that there is indeed a bug in Brasero.

I initially used apport-bug to report this which has collected and sent
much information but I don't know where it all went!!

2009-10-29 Thread luke2760
It's a general issue with crappy CD writers (and in my experience
anything older than 1 year is crappy, and even brand new, stock drives
can be lemons.)

If there were a way to make 1/2 the maximum speed the default when
burning an ISO, I think that would be good. 1/2 max really might be a
good sane default in general, though for raw audio CDs full speed isn't
really an issue. If people really want the extra speed they can turn it
up, and it would definitely prevent a lot of wasted CDs.

2008-11-05 Thread Scott Ochiltree
Sebastian:

Thanks for your message. My CD burner is OK, because I was able to use
the CD burning option in Ubuntu (not Braseiro) to slowly burn an ISO
file to a CD. The CD worked fine.

Best Regards, Scott Ochiltree.

Hello there. What makes you think that ISO files require slower
burning?

(You might be "blessed" with a crappy CD writer like many people are,
which write junk if they're driven to write too fast. However, that has
nothing to do with ISOs.)
