Re: [Bug 295723] SGH-Z560 does not connect with NetworkManager070

2009-09-21 Thread Bpossolo
Hi Pedro Villacencio

After your e-mail I been using 9.04 with no problems with my 3G
connections, only have problems with ZTE Usb 3G modens.

This weekend, when I got the time, I had upgraded my stable ubuntu
9.04 for 9.10 Alpha 6. But now I'm having lots of troubles connecting
with all my 3G devices. Inclusive my Samsung, that worked Ok in 9.04,
is disconnect by Ubuntu when I try to make a connection. I believe
that's happening because is an Alpha 6 Version. But anyway here goes
my feedback.

If you like me to run some scripts or send you some logs, just say
what, and I send you.

Best regards,
Bruno

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 $ lsb_release -rd
 Description: Ubuntu 8.10
 Release: 8.10

 Package: network-manager 0.7
 network management framework daemon

Using the network manager, my samsung Z560 is recognized as a
Samsung Z100 and I select the Portuguese network TMN in the initial
auto setup. After, I try to connect the mobile broadband network,
but always fail to connect. I have done the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10
and I am working with network manager 0.7.0. In attach I send the
tail of the syslog and a dump of lshal.

If I configure everything manual with pppconfig and wvdial my
samsung works fine. I tried that in the pass but only with Ubuntu
 7.10 not with 8.10.

I also tried in the some mobile network, with a Nokia N95-1 and it
seams everything works just fine and out of the box. So should be
some issue with the Samsung phone and NetworkManager 0.7.

I do not know if is relevant but my samsung is lock to TMN Network
(Portugal) and my Nokia is not lock to any network. The test I had
done with Nokia N95 was also with TMN Network (Portugal).

Re: [Bug 295723] SGH-Z560 does not connect with NetworkManager070

2009-09-03 Thread Bpossolo
Hi!

Actually I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and since I am using 9.04 version my
samsung works very well.

If you allow me let me report some other aspects that I believe could
be improved. The ZTE USB 3G modem does not work very well, I had the
some problem that I had with my samsung. I am talking about Ubuntu 9.04.

Other problem I detected is if you put an 3G modem device connected
with Ubuntu for the first time, the wizard opens, you configure the
device and everything stays working fine. But you try to connect other
different 3G device, a second time, the wizard does not popup, so I
have to configure by hand.

For example: I had a HAWEII 3G USB with connects to VODAFONE network,
and I have my samsung that connects to TMN network. TMN and Vodafone
are both different 3G data providers. So the wizard will only pop up
for the first USB device you connect.

This could be a problem for people who are not very comfortable with
computers or linux and just want things out of the box.

Ubuntu and Linux Kernel are great and working every version better. I
had already installed lots of Ubuntu on notebooks and desktops of
friends, who want to give a try on Ubuntu. So I just have to thank you
for your great and fantastic work. User friendly is the key, and with
that Linux are getting lots of non technical users to use Ubuntu Linux
and their applications every day more.

Thanks!
Bruno
