[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs

2010-05-07 Thread woox
My pc is:
CPU: Amd Athlon 64 3000+
Chipset: Uli M1689
RAM: 1'5 GB DDR
Storage: 320 GB SATA
Video: Ati 9200 AGP

System freeze when downloading with torrent, amule (when starts
completing file), or copying big files (2GB), but sometimes randomly.

I searched the logs but I have never found anything.

It happens in 9.10 and 10.04 (32 and 64 bits).
Ubuntu 8.10 always worked fine.

2009-05-23 Thread Manuel Lucena
Same problem with Jaunty. Tested with transmission and qbittorrent
(aMule works perfectly). After a while, screen goes blank and the
machine halts. Only hard reset (no REISUB). No trace in
/var/log/messages

Very annoying. Possible libtorrent problem?

2009-05-23 Thread Manuel Lucena
With qbittorrent running, I have used CTRL+ALT+F1 to see the console,
and the computer didn't crash. After a while, I pressed ALT+F7 to see
the graphic screen, but only got blank screen and computer stopped
responding.

Very strange. Anyone can reproduce?

[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs

2009-02-17 Thread António Lima
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs

2008-11-26 Thread Darknite
Hey nrml,

I have actually figured out why my bit torrent freezes. The reason is
because I am downloading 15GB worth of stuff and the partition that I am
downloading to only has 8 GB. So my mistake. Regardless I was still
locking up and freezing under some random circumstances. So what I did
was fresh install Ubuntu 8.10 i686 (no 64 bit for me, at least for now),
but I am still freezing/crashing. Especially when downloading or
installing a new package. I personally think that it has to do with my
nvidia video card driver, but I just don't know what to do. I hope
someone comes to my aid.

[Bug 301926] Re: Crash/Freeze When using bit torrent client and other random programs

2008-11-24 Thread Darknite
** Description changed:

I have ran into some problems with the new 8.10 version of ubuntu. There
are a few issues, but the most annoying is that my computer randomly
freezes, I have yet to determine a pattern to the crashes. But more or
less, it happens when I am doing something with the video card (example
playing a youtube video.) But it often happens when opening LimeWire, or
even when installing software through the package manager (Synaptic). It
never happens when I install packages through the good old command line.

In a nutshell my system consists as follows

  Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM
  CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ Socket AM2
  Memory: 1GB
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7300 GT
Storage 1: 80 GB SATA II
Storage 2: 160 GB SATA II

This a complete fresh installation, the system was working well before
(ubuntu 8.04). Although I have installed a lot of software (mainly
because I use this computer a file server, web server, share iTunes
media library etc.) But this issue has been going on even before
  installing all this software.

My System logs don't say much. It just says restart. I don't know what
to make of it. I've also been getting the famous acpid: exiting hang,
when shutting down or restarting. If I wait long enough it does restart
or shut down but its very annoying.

-
- AN UPDATE:
-
- Every time I open my bit torrent client, after about 2 minutes of use it
- freezes Every TIME, without fail. This is strange because previously
- (about 4 days ago, I downloaded two 1.5gig files without a hitch)...
-
- I would appreciate any help...
-
- Thank you.
