I had two boards with Intel 9xx Graphics, the Intel Double atom one
D945...CFLthings2 and a Kontron (s479 mini itc board)

On the kontron, booted X with no problem but freaking slow compiz
(3->15fps) and on the atom... no X...

needed to fix the atom setup adding to xorg.conf:
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"

And it had freakking fast performance: 50fps :)

I've done the same on the kontron and tada! Fast compiz back :)

Maybe not the issue but a fix: )

when I run sudo glxgears instead of glxgears I get a better frame rate.
The poor frame rate appears to be a permission issue for the user.

confirmed here.
on alpha2 (previous install) and now on the 20090109 daily build alternate
install CD.
No modifications at all. Stock config. no xorg.conf.

jau...@jaunty:~$ uname -a
Linux jaunty 2.6.28-4-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 6 19:34:01 UTC 2009 i686
GNU/Linux

xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu7

glxgears gives me 65fps.
glxinfo says direct rendering is enabled.
moving windows is slow, and becomes paintfully slow after a few mn.
Resizing is also very slow.

This machine usually runs ubuntu 8.10, with a snappy compiz.

[Bug 309838] Re: [i965] Compiz low performance-flickering in jaunty

2009-01-02 Thread nbubis
Hey all,

I'm having similar problems after upgrading to jaunty alpha 2. I'm using a dell
inspiron 1420n with an intel g965 card.
glxgears has a frame rate of around 120 fps, but 3d games show a frame rate of
only 5! fps.

It seems that hardware acceleration simply isn't enabled. Any idea on
how to enable acceleration / fix the problem?
