Hi, I'm not sure whether it youwas already mentioned here but please consider disabling the Global Search and the downloading of IMAP messages in Thunderbird 3.0 by default. I know it's really a neat feature but it may also create loads of needless traffic on local networks when people have alot of mail in their inboxes. Also, it keeps the computer busy when indexing all the mail, especially a caveat on slower machines. Any users who need it can enable it again over the menus. Furthermore, it would be nice to have a checkbox to enable/disable Global Indexing/Mail Downloading for IMAP in the setup wizard which is shown on first run of Thunderbird 3.0. Well xulrunner applications like firefox thunderbird are really huge, take a look at the current packaging it is huge complex plus with such a major release you need to get the languages legal cross-checks right. And it takes a while to build and test. It's a big job to tackle and the availability of human hours is the constrain. (Technologically it is possible). This will make it in Lucid however it will not be backported for Lucid at this time, We will most likely have a PPA for other Ubuntu releases. ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged -- [needs-packaging] Thunderbird 3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
