I have this as well: echo $BASH_COMPLETION $BASH_COMPLETION_DIR Gives me nothing. I started with a fresh install of jaunty alpha 6. So, this may be fixed for new installs, it's not fixed for those who started testing jaunty early. This is _NOT_ a bug in bash-completion. That Gives me nothing means that you're not sourcing it. Please read the docs on how to enable it, most notably sourcing it from ~/.bashrc (or similar startup files). This rather would be a bug in bash, not sourcing bash-completion by default in /etc/skel/.bashrc.
