[Bug 343944] Re: Epic plasma memory leak (0.1 mb / sec)

2010-01-30 Thread Jason Straight (LeeJunFan)
I only have the plasma leak when running compiz or kde effects. Odd that
plasma would care about compiz effects, it actually seems worse with
compiz than it does with kde effects.

[Bug 343944] Re: Epic plasma memory leak (0.1 mb / sec)

2010-01-29 Thread gregbuntu
I seem to have this problem as well. After a few days, my installation of
Kubuntu 9.10 become extremely slow, the kickoff launcher is missing all entries
and compositing is disabled due to slow response. I just checked system monitor
and found that system memory is fully utilized and the greatest offender is
'plasma-desktop' (currently using 2,041MiB). The second highest useage is
'nepomukservicestub' (using 286 MiB). This is making Kubuntu practically
unusable for me. I have a dual-core AMD Athlon 64 4200+ CPU with 4GB of RAM
installed.

[Bug 343944] Re: Epic plasma memory leak (0.1 mb / sec)

2009-06-18 Thread Jason Straight (LeeJunFan)
Actually I misread that initially, it's not plasma any more for me. I
apparently have another memory leak. X itself. xrestop reports 25M of
pixmap yet X itself is using 680m according to top.

Any event - disregard my claim that plasma still has a leak.

That has never worked for me, and even now running 4.3.0b2 I still have
an epic Plasma Leak.

Is there any chance that this will be backported to jaunty ? This is
fairly annoying - work a day or 2 in KDE, then you need tolog off and
start again...

I have the same issue - both in Kubuntu 8.10 and Kubuntu 9.04. My
workaround is to periodically execute

kquitapp plasma

Then Alt+F2 to pull up the Launch Application bar and execute

plasma

Thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could
you please state your version for kdebase-worspace-bin (the package that
owns /usr/bin/plasma)?

@LimCore: please note that the reporter is running Jaunty, while you are
running Intrepid. This may, or may not, be significant.
