[Bug 355970] Re: jaunty nautilus Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2009-08-07 Thread Jerry Snitselaar
For future reference in order to get core dumps for applications to save
you probably need to modify your ulimit settings. Do a 'ulimit -a' and
most likely core file size is set to 0. You can set it to take a core
dump by specifying a maximum size for the dump, or setting it to
unlimited with 'ulimit -c #' or 'ulimit -c unlimited'.

[Bug 355970] Re: jaunty nautilus Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2009-06-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 355970] Re: jaunty nautilus Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2009-06-29 Thread jerrylamos
This bug does not currently exist in karmic so it can be closed.

I'm currently working on another bug with CD Live on the same processor
where the processor crashes. Launchpad bug #385947.

Your instructions only work if the processor is still running. They
don't work if the processor has in fact crashed and stopped. There
isn't any '.crash' file in /var/crash when the processor crashes and
stops. The crash report can only be generated if the processor can
still run.

Thanks for looking at this bug report.

PACKAGE UPDATES MAY SOLVE THIS PROBLEM (2009.05.06)

I haven't tested again with a clean installation, but now I've updated
repositories and applied suggested updates. Then I've uninstalled K3B
(my previous solution) and installed Brasero again; and now all works
fine (Nautilus and CD recording).

2009-04-30 Thread Actiu informatica
This command (chmod a-r) only saves Nautilus when a blank CD/DVD is
inserted, but cannot record CD or DVD.

The recording feature may work uninstalling (purge) Brasero and
installing GnomeBaker or K3B.

[Bug 355970] Re: jaunty nautilus Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2009-04-08 Thread jerrylamos
jaunty beta was running OK on this IBM Celeron ThinkCentre A30 i845
graphics. Admitedly video is jerky on jaunty on i845, but it worked.

After Update Manager updates, nautilus wouldn't start at all. No
Places file browser at all. Black screen. Applications System
worked.

Wiped out jaunty, re installed to level as shown by cat /proc/version

Linux version 2.6.28-11-generic (bui...@palmer) (gcc version 4.3.3
(Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4) ) #40-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 3 17:39:51 UTC 2009

which is now working, video all, a jaunty jerky video as before.

? My best bet, Update Manager screwed up.

2009-04-07 Thread DerHesse
I cannot open nautilus at all. I get a core dump on IBM P4 Thinkcentre (MT-M
8183-PNG) 2,8GHZ with i82865G Integrated Graphics.
I was wondering why playback of video files instantly crashes X.

After updating I cannot see objects on the Desktop.
Nautilus won't start, neither with sudo: Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Kernel is 2.6.28-11-generic
