Setting this invalid in wicd as it seems to be a kernel issue rather

I would defiantly say it is related every one should comment and post on
that bug since it actually has a Kernel person assigned to the bug.
There are quiet a few bug reports for this core issue but that one is
the first time I have seen someone assigned to it.

2010-04-13 Thread superlex
I have now this bug with openSUSE 11.2 too. pci=usr-crs don't solve the
problem. Any ideas?

Sometimes, wireless stops working e dmesg reports

but after some time starts to run. On the contrary, other times it stops
completely, dmesg reports

2010-03-04 Thread Mattias Wadenstein
Seems to be the same (or at least same symptoms) that I see on karmic
amd64 running 2.6.31-17-generic with "Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi
Link 5300" (thinkpad x200s). I can get it unstuck by flipping the
wireless hw kill switch to turn wireless off and then on again after a
few seconds.

When broken the lines:

[2409838.034227] iwlagn :03:00.0: No space for Tx
[2409838.034241] iwlagn :03:00.0: Error sending REPLY_RXON: enqueue_hcmd
failed: -28
[2409838.034248] iwlagn :03:00.0: Error setting new RXON (-28)

Keep repeating over and over again.

I'm using now ubuntu karmic with kernel-2.6.32-13, and problem persists. I also
adds that the wireless disconnets when I am downloading many files.
Furthermore, sometimes it does not block, but PC freezes and the only solution
is reset.

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2010-02-19 Thread sahas
I experience the same problem with my Ubuntu install.
My system specs:
HP dv5t laptop with Intel 5100 network card
Ubuntu Karmic

Rebooting or reloading the network modules does the trick for me but it still
is very irritating...
Curiously, hard stop and start of wireless radio receiver (via the touch button
on top of the keyboard) does not work. When I swipe that button, instead of the
light turning red (which should be the case), it starts to blink! Looking into
that, which I will later, should help pinpoint the nature of the problem.

P.S. : I just reloaded my network modules in order to submit this :D

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2010-02-01 Thread José Valecillos
It's the same problem with ath5k and seem that happen with many others
wireless cards. Isn't a Ubuntu problem, in Archlinux i have the problem
too.

The problem is easily reproducible:
You connect to a network, then disconnect, and finally, try to connecting
again. Wicd just say: "Unable to obtain IP Address"

There is a workaround (rough-and-ready) if you reload the kernel module
of the wireless interface with rmmod (or modprobe -r, it's the same) and
then modprobe. This is the reason because many of you have to reboot the
computer, but just need reload the module.

In the bugtracker of Archlinux (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18011)
they say that is a kernel problem, i don't know. But that i know is that
other networks manager don't have this problem just with wicd.

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2009-07-06 Thread Mikko Taivainen
Hello all,

I'm using Jaunty on Samsung NC10 and I installed linux-backport-modules-
jaunty. Now I've been using Ubuntu for few days w/o major networking
problems. WPA2 occassionally fails with some routers, but that's an
another issue. I'd like to add that before installing backport modules I
had to boot to Win XP in order to get the network adapter functional
again. I don't know the actual reason for that, but it seems to be
related in some power saving function because it usually occurred after
an S3 sleep state. I don't know if the linux-backport-modules-jaunty
resolved this issue for me, but it's surely looking good right now .

Mikko

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2009-07-05 Thread Keng-Yü Lin
If you could also test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine this
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

If the issue remains with the upstream kernel, please be sure to also
run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2009-05-16 Thread svaens
more behavioral information:

1. first i start the computer,
2. second, wireless connects
3. use internet, high data usage
4. random amount of time, wireless cuts out
5. attempt to re-connect causes authentication dialog to pop up.
6. re typing the key details results in behavior which seems from outward
appearances the same as if i had typed in the wrong authentication key.

No amount of attempts allows me to reconnect. Only a reboot fixes it.

2009-05-16 Thread svaens
There should be some comment on this bug from the people who would be able to
fix it. Please.
I will provide any information they ask for. Please ask.
Seeing as there have been problems with several modules, i wonder if there
isn't something else at fault here.

same problem here on jaunty with Intel Corporation 4965 AGN
network-manager disconnects after some time (lot's of traffic?) most of the
time reconnecting works, but sometimes i need to modprobe the driver again

isn't it just a problem with the firmware?

2009-05-12 Thread svaens
This bug is currently marked as Incomplete.

As this 'is' a bug, and should be fixed (using backports sounds like a
workaround, not a solution), I ask now;

How do i progress this bug, and move it from 'Incomplete' to 'new', and
get someone to generally accept it (or even take notice of it) ???

I don't have vmware installed, so it has obviously nothing to do with that.
Just happens in the blue. Or rather, when i have had lots of network
traffic. i.e. using bittorrent.

2009-05-09 Thread Cyber-Jimmy
Seeing someone with a fellow problem I felt I must share my findings seeing
that I had the same issue, the result for me was to disable VM ware whenever I
was not using it. I did this by
sudo /etc/init.d/vmware stop

This instantly reduced my wireless issues with (vmnetBridge) now I have
to fix my vmware problem.

For the record I am using -
Ubuntu 9.04 (64bit) Jaunty Jackalope
Wireless card: IPW3945
VMware Workstation 6.5

The backports modules fixed it for me (or I should say it ran for 1 day
without seeing the problem - which is more than it had been running).

I will update again in a few days if it still hasn't occurred.

I purged the backport module packages for now. An unstable WLAN is
better than none :)

[Bug 365321] Re: iwlagn - Wireless network disconnects and won't reconnect without reboot

2009-04-22 Thread Martin Emrich
I also experience this, and reloading the wireless modules helps
usually:

-
#!/bin/sh

sudo rmmod iwlagn
sudo rmmod iwlcore
sudo rmmod mac80211
sudo rmmod cfg80211

sleep 2

sudo modprobe iwlagn
-

I just installed the backport modules, and will see if they help with
this bug as well as my regular network freezes.

Ciao

Martin
