This bug is still here. Just happened to me. I am on Linux calypso 2.6.31-20-generic #58-Ubuntu i686. I am unable to login to tty1-6. Hi Michalxo, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 397496 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. Hello Jeremy Foshee, I installed fresh karmic after having some issues with Karmic alpha3 or 4. On fresh install, If I recall correctly, it happened only once or twice (max) since then. And when I went to console and back, everything was back to normal. About reproduction of bug.. it's almost impossible for me to reproduce it "by force". (as always was) I don't know the cause :-( I'll try liveCD for a few days. Which kernel(s) to try? I was using this for quite a long time (a month?) linux-image-2.6.32-02063202-generic and no problem with it i think. ps; Where is that mainstream "tag"? If it happens in the console, it's not a bug in X. Can you reproduce with a clean system? Hello I am on 9.10 now, so results are from testing koala. I think that bug happens too, but very rarely.. got it only once in 2 months or so.
