I'm installing Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon on a Shuttle XS35V2.
I've got a Jmicron JMC250 network card 197b:0250 (rev 03).
It doesn't work, until I change speed from 1 Gbit/s to 100 Mbits/s :
sudo ethtool -s xx speed 100 duplex full

So, this bug seems to be still here in last version of Debian, Ubuntu
and Mint :(

I just tried to test the latest development release. However, on my hardware
this bug only occured with the server edition and the hardware only runs 32bit
:-(
Is there any source where the development release of the server version is
available in 32bit?
Thx

[Bug 400297] Re: patch for JMicron jmc250 and jmc260 ethernet card

2012-07-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Lurah, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in the
development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do
not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the
bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the
'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow
pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description
and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment
on which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment
as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 400297] Re: patch for JMicron jmc250 and jmc260 ethernet card

2011-11-27 Thread scrapper
Hi folks,

another type of this bug is that your network card(JMicron) is not working
anymore. But it was already working.
So did anything happen to the drivers? No, this is not the first place to look
for.

Try this:
Power off machine, unplug power cable and battery if any.
Press power button to empty memory.
Restart

Now LAN should work again.
More detailed description available here:
http://develissimo.com/forum/topic/24094/?page=1#post-59099

If not, now you can start fiddling with your drivers. But first try the
above workaround.

2011-11-16 Thread Henry Ptasinski
Installation of 11.10 server amd64 (final) on a shuttle xs34v2 failed to
detect the ethernet controller during the install process, but the
installation completed and the machine boots successfully. The
controller was detected at boot, but fails to establish link. The
interface works if the speed is forced to 100Mbps (ethtool -s eth0 speed
100 duplex full autoneg off), but it fails to establish link if the
speed is forced to 1000Mbps.

the Ethernet card. However neither the minimal iso install or the

Is it possible that this bug is still in the latest releases for Ubuntu?
I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a EEE Box that has a JMicron jmc250
as NIC. The desktop version of Ubunut 10.04 recognizes the NIC correctly
but neither the server version nor the alternate installer do. The same
happens with Ubuntu 10.10.

Any chance that this will get fixed? Any information I can provide (It's
the first time for me reporting in this bug base).

[Bug 400297] Re: patch for JMicron jmc250 and jmc260 ethernet card

2009-10-13 Thread dan
Hello,
the card works with the 9.10-driver.
If there is any possibility to install the driver from Beta 9.10 on the 9.04
system ?
I need a stable working system asap, and can't wait til the end of the month.
:-(

Hallo,

I have a Netbook with JMicron Gigabit Ethernet JMC260.
On Ubuntu Netbook remix 9.04 the LAN connection does’nt work.
The Beta 9.10 does. My Problem is that I have to produce many of the Netbooks
and it can’t be a Beta Version on it.
So my question is, if there is any possibility to install the driver from Beta
9.10 on the 9.04 system.

thank you,

Daniel

Jeruvy said on 2009-10-10:

If there is a bug, and a fix released for it, it should be backported.
Or you can make a request to do so. This may take longer than simply
waiting for 9.10 which is less than 3 weeks away. I'd check it out and
see whether or not the backport is available, if not then hang on til
the end of the month.
