The bug still exists, and has for the last 9 years. If you had read the bug description, you would have find out that everything you posted is irrelevant. Simply look at any of the file listings of the package, e.g. https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/amd64 /thunderbird-gnome-support/filelist . Why should I generate any sort of collected report when the bug is that the package in fact contains only two text files instead of the real content of the package? Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? I would like to see these improvements as well, but I think this bug should have the Importance updated to be something like "Wishlist". This has been an issue forever. I hoped that with the release of thunderbird 3 gvfs support would be available. Yesterday I was checking Claws Mail and it supports gvfs!!! So, the best looking, best imap- supporting, and best featured email application for Linux just sucks because it does not integrate well with the desktop environment. I also hoped that this package would solve my problem. I cannot directly access network shares but have to use ~/.gvfs/ to add or save an attachment on a samba share. Does anyone know if this is a thunderbird bug or an Ubuntu bug? I found this now also.
