(Please do NOT remove the'Incomplete' status from bugs unless you know there is enough information to handle the bug) Could you try to boot : - without the quiet and splash kernel options, - without the quiet and splash kernel options and with ro and single instead and tell what happens ? To do this, when you are in GRUB, select the line corresponding to Ubuntu, type 'e' to edit it, move to the kernel line, press 'e' again. Use backspace to remove quiet and splash, and optionally add ro and single. Press Enter and then 'b' to boot the modified GRUB entry.
