[Bug 448087] [NEW] should not depend on libempathy, but recommend it

2009-10-10 Thread kwurzel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-session

indicator-session-0.1.7 in Ubuntu Karmic depends on libempathy. However,
I removed Empathy and installed Pidgin instead. So indicator-session had
been removed and there was an error message about the missing applet
after restarting gnome-panel.

I think we should be able to switch users, reboot or hibernate using
this applet without needing to use Empathy. So indicator-session should
be changed to be usable w/o libempathy and recommend it, instead of
depending on it.

ProblemType: Bug

You can choose to remove the Empathy application without removing all of
the libraries associated with it. indicator-session needs the library
to support Empathy, and does not do much with the library if Empathy is
not running.
