[Bug 451266] Re: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Oneiric Ocelot. ** Changed in: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 Title: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/meta-gnome2/+bug/451266/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

installing gnome-core also suffices: sudo apt-get install gnome-core xorg gdm -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 451266] Re: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies
Yes same here... I think I have the problem because I removed evolution, and that in turns removed some packages that gnome depends on. Yep...same here, i also removed evolution (because i prefer thunderbird as my default email-client...i also cannot comprehend why canonical dont want thunderbird as default..)and could not close my desktop anymore, so i did a 'hard power off' ...when i restarted my comp, my gnome was gone...i only saw a colored background with nothing on it ... The solution to this problem was, when i got in synaptic and installed GNOME-CORE ... ;-) -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 451266] Re: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies
I agree with Yves. I hate that if I want to uninstall some unwanted programs that are part of the default install, it tells you that something like ubuntu-desktop will be uninstalled because it depends on it. So now we've come full circle by creating a dependency hell within the method of installing stuff designed to try to eliminate dependency hell. A lot of stuff can and should be made optional so people who want to remove things like games can do so without a giant hassle. -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 451266] Re: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies
Same problem here with fresh install of 9.10 dependencies that you might not want. Exactly, I don't want ubuntu-desktop, I want gnome. Yes same here... I think I have the problem because I removed evolution, and that in turns removed some packages that gnome depends on. I will do some more test and confirm. -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 451266] Re: meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies
I have re-install yet another machine with the exact same preseed files, same scripts etc... with one exception: I do not remove evolution any more, and gnome worked fine right after the install. Making an OS dependant on one email client is plain silly ! If wanted to be forced to use one window manager and one email client, I'd be using MS Windows ! -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I get the same dependency issue with the package gnome-vfs-obexftp while installing on xubuntu Karmic ** Changed in: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- meta-gnome2 not installable, broken package dependencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
