[Bug 466031] Re: no sound 9.10 GA-EX58-UDR3

2010-03-26 Thread Brad Figg
Hi Chris,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 466031

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil
icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

Ok - I have reinstalled 9.10 and this time I did not "import" settings from XP.
Still no sound.
Awaiting further answers.

[Bug 466031] Re: no sound 9.10 GA-EX58-UDR3

2009-10-30 Thread Chris Edmonds
Daniel,

Thank you for your interest in my problem.
I downloaded and installed the realtek linux sound driver. (audiopak 5.13)
which includes a driver for the ALC888 chipset.
(ran the install file - not a manual install) Still no sound.
I also installed a ALSA mixer GUI, to check the levels. Again no sound.

I must admit this is not urgent. I would like to move to Ubuntu from XP
sometime in the future.
Maybe I should wait for future updates.

I have a new system (Core i7...etc) so this may be part of the problem.

Sincerely thanking you, (and all people who help in the launchpad
forum!!)

Chris.
