[Bug 480492] Re: Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall.
I have the same problem with a Thinkpad T61. I was not having this issue with 9.04. It was reproducible 100% of the time under the following sequence: I'd have the laptop on AC power, put it to sleep, unplug the power, then wake up the laptop--it would then go back to sleep in a few seconds. If I put it to sleep while on battery power, it would wake up just fine. I was using the x86_64 version of 9.10. I've since replaced 9.10 with Fedora 12, and the same issue persists. Confirmed on a Thinkpad T-43. Didn't happen before the update to Karmic. [Bug 480492] Re: Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall.
After some weeks of use, I can reproduce it now, almost always. The problem seems to exist when the state of power is changed (i.e. changing from only battery to battery+AC). Right now, while I am writing this comment, my laptop has a fully charged battery and the AC connected. I unplug the AC adapter... and the laptop goes to sleep. I think this is a quite important bug, somebody should pay attention to it, as it interrupts the normal use of the computer. I am attaching my lspci output, I am willing to provide any needed information. ** Attachment added: lspci.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36899073/lspci.txt -- Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm on Karmic Koala AMD64 and have experienced this bug. I cannot isolate the circumstances to reproduce it reliably. This is a new Thinkpad Tablet. [Bug 480492] Re: Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall.
Isolate it thus: 1. Turn laptop on. 2. Plug in the power if it is not already plugged in. 3. Hibernate/Sleep the computer. 4. Unplug the computer after hibernate/sleep sequence is complete. 5. Wake back up. 6. ** Well, there's your problem ** -- Computer will now go back to sleep/hibernation (whichever you had it in) For me, this has been a reliably reproducible problem. My current (lame) work-around is to unplug before putting to sleep/hibernation so that the re-sleep/hibernate does not occur. [Bug 480492] Re: Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall.
I noticed a very similar problem: when I put the laptop to sleep, and later wake it up, it shows the desktop and then sleeps again, inmediatly. This happens sometimes 2 or 3 times until I can use the laptop again. It started to happen with 9.10, it did not happen with 9.04 or older Ubuntu releases. The weird thing is that it happens too with latest version of Arch Linux. Maybe a kernel/drivers problem? It is a Samsung R50, old Centrino with Intel 915GM. -- Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 480492] Re: Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall.
Yeah, this only started happening with 9.10. I never had this problem with 9.04. That is strange that you are getting it multiple times in a row though. I only ever have it happen once, and only after unplugging it from power while it is sleeping, then resuming. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the computer thinking it is still on external power when it starts up, and once the battery kicks in, the computer goes back to sleep. I don`t know why. -- Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've noticed the same thing since upgrading from Jaunty (9.04) to the new 9.10 (Karmic). The boot sequence during wake up also seems to take a while, and it almost seems as if parts of the boot sequence are being repeated I'm not sure how to trace this, but I wonder if other peope may have had similar problems..? -- Computer goes back to sleep upon wakeup, after unplugging from wall. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
