[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I just made a giant upgrade on one computer from 9.04 to 10.10, and then noticed this same bug suddenly appearing. The auto-detect is apparently still broken in 10.10. Forcing to MSC in the Sansa clip+ settings does work as a workaround, but this is not at all user friendly, as the failure is completely silent. (Most users don't know about syslog, and will never find this thread.) Understandably the maintainers of this probably don't have the device on hand. Is there some information which would help in diagnosing it? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 Title: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I have this problem in ubuntu lucid alpha3, I try to report using apport (but apport say that can not connect to the crash database due to a "network problem") -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I find that my Sansa Clip works in the USB setting "MSC" mode but not in the "auto" mode. This was not a problem in 9.04 when I used "auto" mode. Does this suggest that it was always working in MSC mode, but that it is the auto-negotiation of an acceptable mode that has failed? -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
Oops, I do feel an idiot. It seems the cable goes only goes partially in without excessive force. I only just realised this because I was trying to be careful... anyway it works fine for me in MSC mode now. -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
Just to add. I tried plugging it in with the device turned both on and off. Tried this on all of the USB connection types and tried booting the system with it plugged in as suggested to work elsewhere. None of this made any difference. -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I have a unit with firmware version V01.01.05F. I cannot get Ubuntu 9.10 to recognise it in any of the 3 USB connection modes (I have tried switching to MSC as suggested above). As I need to be able to mount the device to upgrade it's firmware I'm also unable to do that. -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I don't think 'invalid' is the right result for this bug. The bug is real, just because we found a way around it doesn't mean it wasn't a bug. I shouldn't have to poke around in the settings of my sansa clip to make it work. It wasn't necessary to do that in 9.04 or any earlier ubuntu, so I don't see why it should be necessary now. ** Changed in: hal (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Marking the bug as invalid since the apparent problem with the sansa clip audio player has been solved. Please reopen it if you run into the same problem, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to "New". You beauty! That worked a treat for me. I had this same problem and here's how I fixed it. The Sansa Clip will work in MTP or MSC (mass storage) mode. Go into settings and change the USB mode to MSC. This worked for me. [Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I am having the same problem on a Dell inspiron 1521. My Sansa Clip was working fine in 9.04 with the 2.6.28-14 kernel but when I updated to the -15 kernel the problem started. It has not improved with 9.10 and the new kernel. It works on another computer I have that is also running 9.10. I have an entry in the Kubuntu forums about this http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3107789.0 -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
Ok i found a workaround not related to ubuntu at all. If i make sure to swich on the sansa device before pluging in the USB cable then it works but if i do like i have been used to till now (i mean to plug in the USB cable sansa device swiched off) it doesn't work anymore. So try this, if you are lucky it will work for you as well. -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
