This is still a problem, using Kubuntu 9.10 (fully updated) and a HP Laserjet 1320tn. I tried various Pdf programs (Kpdf, xpdf, adobe reader), but the error persists, i assume they all use lpr. Before, i used Kubuntu 8.04, there i had this problem only with kpdf. other programs would print normally IIRC. This is still affecting me. Hardy 8.04.3 LTS/kpdf/HP 2300. Always prints documents in duplex along the long axis. Since Hardy is LTS We need to get the fix back ported from Intrepid to Hardy soon. This has been a bug for far too long. I can confirm this same bug for me. is there any fix out there? Just discovered this with Hardy too. Duplex is stuck on and the settings ignored, a bit like this bug (2 years!!). Is that the correct way to handle such a bug? The bug obviously remains in kpdf. The bug remains in hardy. Hardy is still supported so I think this bug should be fixed in hardy and in kpdf? If I should switch to okular, does that mean I also have to install kde4? I do not think a bug should be fixed by switching to an other software. I think the same happens to me with 3.5.10 hardy: FYI: I can't even select it to print duplex, it claims the driver doesn't support it or something. I confirm this bug with identical symptoms in HP 2015dn. Unfortunately, evince prints barlines of music scores from GNU LilyPond too thick! KPDF prints them well, but always double sided. The 3.5.9 package in http://ftp.gva.es/mirror/debian/pool/main/k/kdegraphics/ Works for me. I'll add my own confirmation - Toshiba eStudio printer, Hardy 64-bit, KDE 3.5.9. That this bug has been left for so long is ridiculous - especially since it has multiple confirmations and there seems to be a simple fix (ie stop breaking it). I have the opposite problem in Hardy, that is, even with the duplex option enabled, it always prints on one side. However, evince works fine. Confirmed on 8.04, amd64. Printer: Dell mfp 3115cn. It works nicely, but kpdf sends files which are identified by the dell printer as size letter. And the printer does not have a nice option to use another type of paper for a given job. Son cannot print. I think it was already mentioned that this is still present in KPDF 0.5.6/KDE 3.5.6. This is probably also already obvious (since poppler seems to be at fault here) but I still wanted to add that this is not specific to HP printers - I have the same problem with a Samsung ML- 3051ND. I can confirm this on Kubuntu Feisty Beta (kpdf 0.5.6). I have an HP LaserJet 2200 at work and print pdf documents often. What's wrong with the original non patched KPDF? I can confirm this too (KPDF 0.5.5/Ubuntu edgy/HP LJ 2200d): kpdf prints as duplex (longside), regardless of the setting in the printer dialog or the printer driver's default setting (via CUPS).
