[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2012-03-19 Thread Oliver Sindt
This problem occurs regularly at our site, too. All 400+ workstations
are on Lucid and we don't plan to upgrade until the next LTS release is
out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my expectation from an LTS release is that
these sort of bugs are getting fixed. If not I don't see the point in
using an LTS release at all.

Please have look into this as many people are suffering from this
problem. Thanks in advance! :-)

[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2012-01-27 Thread Tim Cutts
I have users here also reporting this sort of crash (in our case it seems to
happen when logging in from a locked screen).
It would be very useful if this fix could be brought into Lucid. I'm
supporting many desktops in an enterprise environment, and it's only really
feasible for us to use LTS releases.

[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2011-11-08 Thread Lukav
The bug still exists in 10.04 LTS.
With me it occurs when I open a mail in thunderbird with 2 big attached images.
I also doesn't plan to upgrade till the next LTS on this machine and think the
bug should be reopenned till a fix is release in the LTS repository.

[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2011-07-03 Thread Huygens
However there is no upgrade so to speak for LTS. I'm still using
Ubuntu 10.04 and I don't plan on upgrading before the next LTS.

And as far as I know the issue is not fix for the LTS. So I would
disagree that this bug is marked as Fix Released, it was only partially
released to a few of the supported Ubuntu OS.

Looks like this should be fixed with an upgrade.

If you have tested natty and find it still to be an issue, please file a
new bug rather than reopen this one: ubuntu-bug xorg

[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2011-03-15 Thread Huygens
I just got affected by this bug.
I had Firefox, Rythmbox and LibreOffice Writer open. Firefox was idle (I was
not using it directly but there is my gmail, twitter, etc. web apps). Rythmbox
was idle (a song was playing, but I was not interacting with it). However, I
was using heavily Writer. I have just finished the document, saved it and
exported it as PDF using the toolbar shortcut. It started processing and then
suddenly I got a blank screen and I was back after a couple of seconds to my X
login screen.
I've check the log, so far I have found this:

Xorg.0.log.old :

For information, I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit with latest package. I have
customised it a bit: LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice, Firefox 4 installed
manually (in my HOME folder) and I use i915.powersave=0 because else I'm
affected by bug #538648

I have a Lenovo T500 ThinkPad laptop with a Core 2 Duo P8400 and a GM45
video card (Intel GMA X4500HD).

I've been using Lucid since it's out on this laptop, and it's the very
first time this problem occurs.

Ubuntu 10.10 here still seeing this bug:
Fatal server error:
Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

Happens a lot when viewing minecraft maps in firefox (large jpg or png
files). Sometimes i can load them, but if I load and reload and switch
tabs and back to the big image tab, it will eventually crash X with the
above message.

[Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2010-07-27 Thread Matt Dunn
This bug is still an issue. I had tried the PPA fix over 6 weeks ago,
but the bug continued crashing my xorg on a daily basis. I ultimately
disabled the repo. I got crashes twice in the past 4 hours, different
sites browsed with Firefox 3.6.6

My coworker and I each run 10.04, but I'm on Kubuntu and he's standard
Gnome. We're both impacted.

Is there any more information I can capture/submit when this occurs?

Thanks for your time and effort.
