2010-09-27 Thread Mathieu Trudel
hank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Maverick Meerkat. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next
release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release
at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

[Bug 588375] Re: Random Wireless Disconnects

2010-08-04 Thread Vinh Nguyen
I'm having the same issue on Ubuntu 10.04 on a Toshiba Portege R705. It
happens when I transfer data through the network (eg, backing up my
computer), while I'm surfing the net, and while it is idle. It occurs
quite frequently actually, a few times a day. It happens during data
transfer for sure. Here is what happened (dmesg) while I used rsync:

[Bug 588375] Re: Random Wireless Disconnects

2010-07-12 Thread wild_oscar
For testing purposes, I am trying to download ubuntu's iso.

As Igor suggested, I tried manually assigning the IP address but I still
get random disconnects while downloading the file.

I attach the syslog at the time of disconnect, where you can see:

wlan0: deauthenticated from 00:1e:e5:7a:44:60 (Reason: 14)

Influeced by the original poster, I have also tried a more recent
networkmanager (the https://launchpad.net/~network-
manager/+archive/trunk PPA), but without any luck.

I am seeing the exact same issue: random disconnects in an Aspire One

Is this related to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13892 ?

[Bug 588375] Re: Random Wireless Disconnects

2010-06-28 Thread RedCitrus
Hi Igor

I tried this yesterday, albeit briefly, and can (so far) confirm that
this appears to have helped...I managed to update Ubuntu using the
update manager without interruption, which previously would have forced
the wireless to disconnect prematurely.

I'll keep monitoring it and update as necessary.

Thanks

RC

[Bug 588375] Re: Random Wireless Disconnects

2010-06-20 Thread RedCitrus
Hi. I've got exactly the same problem, but I don't think this is limited to
Ubuntu. I'm running 10.04 now, but had the RC of Windows 7 running previously,
and that had the same issues...as you point out, it seems to occur mainly
(although not exclusively) when large files are being transferred.
We have two Aspire Ones in the house, the other machine has the original custom
OS installed, and doesn't seem to suffer from this problem, so wondering if
it's an issue with a proprietary driver or something?
